First Steps

The remodeling continues, now at more than 65% it pushes along rapidly and demands decisions which go beyond bricks and mortar; time has come to develop the hotel's identity, its charm, its spaces as the customer will experience them.

To accomplish this aspect of the project I've enlisted the help of an Uruguay-Italian who happens to also be a good friend with impeccable taste. Curro is both a resident of Milan and the nearby district of Maldonado where he has a created a beautiful 'chacra' landscaped with lakes, forest, houses and animals that his friends refer to as "Currolandia".

There are a hundred decisions to be made, from floors to ceilings to toilets and decks. Everything has to be of a style that marries the structure, a 100 year old Portuguese colonial hotel with the needs and expectations of a high-end boutique hotel guest, the objective to see that a guest misses nothing, expectations are superseded, the guest leaving sure to return and to tell his or her friends as much.
